We moved to Colorado from Arkansas to be closer to our children and grandchildren. We looked around at multiple builders and did extensive research on the internet for homes already built on the market. We suffered sticker shock in Colorado since we came from a part of the country where real estate was close to half the cost as it is here. We decided if we were going to spend more money we wanted quality and exactly what we needed. Being in our late 60's we were looking for a home with no stairs, energy efficient, and ADA acclimated. This was impossible to find in the resale market. It was equally hard to find builders who met those requirements. In addition, the quality was not where we liked it when we toured their models. We felt like the only thing available was "cookie cutter" value. Then we met Clint Dufresne in his Level 1 model home. We were so impressed by his knowledge and experience we made a decision within an hour to build our home with him. The quality of his model was impeccable. His floor plans showed all the requirements we were looking for as standard application. The in-floor radiant heat is absolutely the best available and healthiest option too. In addition to these pluses, he provided us with a home to rent while our home was being built. We were 100% involved in the building process and treated with the utmost respect if any questions or concerns came up. Upon moving into our home there were small issues that occured you cannot find unless you are actually living there. Because he offers a 1 year warranty for his home after you move in, these small issues were corrected in a more than timely fashion. We absolutely love our Level 1 home. It is the best in functionality and comfort we have ever lived in. We want to highly recommend Clint and his team to anyone. They will go above and beyond to meet your needs. - Steve & Cece
In 2015, my wife decided it was time to leave our three-level home – which we had lived in for nearly 30 years – and relocate to a one level home. So, began our search. When we were shown existing or possible one level homes, we were invariably shown two level homes where you could live on the main level, which is not what we wanted. Eventually, we came around to the idea of building ourselves and split our 15 acres. Turned out this could be done, so our search began for a builder. On a late summer day, we were introduced to a true one level home built by – wait – a builder called Level 1 Homes. Boy, did we like what we saw and the people we met. So, after flirting with other possible builders, decided to pursue a build with Level 1 Homes. We have never built a home before, having spent most of our adult lives in the Air Force. Clint began the design process by gathering our ideas. Great room concept, lots of windows/light, two master bedrooms and a guest bedroom, low maintenance, 3000 square feet, a whiff of Frank Lloyd Wright would be nice! After this and many more conversations, Clint would produce an evolving, working single line portrait of what, conceptually, our new home would look like. We soon found that building a home has a lot of moving parts. Exterior/interior, colors, floor coverings, surprisingly lighting fixtures turned out to be one of the greater challenges. An overwhelming abundance of choices, no matter the category, we had much help by a lot of capable people in navigating through it all. It must be said that at the beginning of the build, I thought that the builder’s mark up (a percentage of all expenses) was quite high. In the end I thought differently, that it was an excellent value. We were told, not by Clint, that Clint had worked in most of the trades involved in house construction. So, he knew when some task was not right or under-performed. And friends with construction experience who visited the work site commented on the high quality of construction. The quality of subs was always under evaluation and changes made as appropriate. When things went wrong, as they inevitably do, Clint would engineer a way out. The staff’s excellence too must be recognized. Ellie, our Project Manager was always on top of every facet of the project, and at one point discovered an inappropriate expense that saved over $7,000. Mike, their government compliance officer cleared things like re-establishing the property line and getting an exception to the dreaded Preble’s Meadow Jumping Mouse arbitrary habitat requirement. Safe to say, we are happier with each passing day with our decision to join hands with Level 1 Homes in building our forever home. The quality of craftsmanship, materials, and design continue to impress.
